LONESOME KATY. AKA and "Beaux of Oak Hill (1)," "Boys of Bluehill (The)," "Silver Lake (4)." American, Reel (2/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. See also Vesta Johnson's "<incipit title="load:Lady" width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/She oughta been a Lady">She oughta been a Lady</incipit>", a similar tune and a member of the same "Boys of Bluehill" tune family. Ira Ford said that he collected his tunes from fiddlers in Missouri, without going into detail about his sources. A number of the tunes in his collection are not particularly 'Missouri' tunes, but this one may have been collected from a fiddler in that state. There is a rhyming resemblance to Ford's "Lonesome Katy" title and Missouri fiddler Vesta Johnson's "Oughta been a Lady."
