Tune properties and standard notation


GALWAY BAY ("Camuis Gaillibe" or "Cuain Gaillim"). AKA and see "Democratic Hornpipe (1)." Irish, Hornpipe. G Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Not associated with any of the "Galway Bay" songs. Popularized by Galway accordion player Joe Burke, who recorded it in the 1960's. The melody was printed prior to the O'Neill collections in William Bradbury Ryan's Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883) under the title "Democratic Hornpipe (1)."
