GALLANT TIPPERARY BOYS, THE (Tiobraid-Arann Calma). AKA and see "Old Figary O' (The)," "Young May Moon (The)." Irish, Double Jig or Slide (12/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Moylan, Roche): AA'BB (Moylan): AABBCCDD (O'Neill). In Kerry the tune, which Thomas Moore used for his "Young May Moon," is often played as a slide. See also the possibly related slide "First Cousin of the Gallant Tipperary Boys."

Source for notated version: accordion player Johnny O'Leary (Sliabh Luachra region of the Cork-Kerry border) [Moylan]; "Cronin" [O'Neill], referring to Chicago fiddler Edward Cronin, originally from Limerick Junction, County Tipperary, born c. 1840's.
