SILVER TIP [3], THE.AKA – "The Silver Tips," “The Silver Top.” AKA and see “Holly Bush (The)," "Top of the Cliff (The)," "Miss Lane's Fancy," "Meadow (The)," "My Love is on the Ocean," "New Mown Meadows (The)," "Silver Spear (The)," "Sliabh Bána." Irish, Reel. D Major (Kennedy): G Major (Shields/Goodman). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody appears twice in Church of Ireland cleric James Goodman’s mid-19th century music manuscripts, under the titles “The Top of the Cliff” and “The Silver Top.” Goodman (1828-1896) was an uilleann piper, and an Irish speaker who collected locally in County Cork and elsewhere in Munster. He also obtained tunes from manuscripts and printed collections. Goodman and Kennedy have their parts reversed from each other.
