JACKSON'S JIG [6]. Irish, Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. George Petrie collected and printed the tune as "Housemaid (2) (The)." The melody belongs to the "Geese in the Bog (1)" family of tunes, to which also belong the 'Jackson' named tunes "Jackson's Coola," "Jackson's Walk to Limerick" and "Jackson's Trip to Limerick." The tune appears in County Cork Church of Ireland cleric and uilleann piper James Goodman's fourth volume (p. 2) of his mid-19th century music manuscript collection in a section of tunes attributed to 18th century composer Walker 'Piper' Jackson.
