GO IN AND OUT THE WINDOW. Old-Time, Air and March. D Major. From the playing of the late Owen "Snake" Chapman. The tune is quite old, having origins in the 18th century English and French melody "Malbrouk" (Bear Went Over the Mountain (The)), but quite common in throughout the South under such titles as "We Won't Go Home Till Morning," "Pig in the Parlor," "We're Marching Round the Levee" and others. It was the vehicle for play-party songs and games.
