Coes' Coes Album of Jigs and Reels (1876), followed by a printing in Scotland in Laybourns' Köhlers’ volume in a section of "Six American Reels." Two years later it was published in Boston in William Bradbury Ryan's Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883) under the title "Dick Sands' Hornpipe" (see "annotation:Dick Sands' Hornpipe"), in association with a renowned American minstrel and variety stage performer. The first strain is also employed in the French-Canadian "Reel St-Ignace."
