TEMPLECROSS. Irish, Hornpipe (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA’B. "Templecross" hornpipe was composed by Belfast uilleann piper, pipe-maker and composer Richard Lewis O'Mealy (1873-1947). Francis O'Neill has a brief sketch of him in his Irish Minstrels and Musicians (1913).

Templecross is located eight miles from Mullingar and two miles north-east of Ballynacarrigy, County Westmeath. O'Mealy was born and raised at Templecross cottage (which was inhabited as late as the 1970's).
