BUCKWHEAT BATTER. American, Jig (6/8 time). Though West Virginia's Tweedy Brothers 1928 recording shared the name Buckwheat Batter with modern Canadian versions, the tune is different than Messer's and predates Messer's recording. Buckwheat Batter is in the repertoire of Western Maryland fiddler Shawn Craver and is similar to the Tweedy recording.
