HONORABLE THOMAS BURKE. Irish, Air or Planxty (2/4 time). G Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by blind Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738). The melody was reconstructed by O'Sullivan from Mulholland and John Lee's publications, where it was incorrect in each instance. The Hon. Thomas Burke (d. 1763) was the third surviving son of the 9th Earl of Clanricard, according to O'Sullivan (1958). O'Carolan also wrote a tune for his sister ("Lady Laetitia Burke").

Source for notated version: John Mulholland's Collection of Ancient Irish Airs (Belfast, 1810) [O'Sullivan].
