Tune properties and standard notation


HUMOURS OF CASTLEFINN, THE (Pléaráca Chaisleán na Finne). AKA - "Humors of Castlefin." AKA and see "Eagan's," "Paddy Miles' Fricassee." Irish, Reel. E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The late fiddler Danny O'Donnell (1910-2001) said on notes to his album that the famous Donegal fiddler Neilly Boyle had a friend named Joe Boyle who taught near Castlefin, Donegal, and that was the derivation of the tunes name. Neilly passed it on to Frank O'Higgins. Paddy Canny recorded the tune as "Eagan's."
