BANG UP [1]. Irish, English; Jig. D Major. Standard tuning. ABC (Joyce): AABBCC (Callaghan). The melody under the "Bang Up" title appears in the c. 1820-1834 music copybook manuscripts of rural labourer and poet John Clare (1793-1864), Helpston, Northamptonshire (No. 78), and the 1841 copybook of John Moore, Tyneside Northumberland (No. 90). It was published by Preston (1801).
