Tune properties and standard notation
IRISH LILT [6]. AKA and see "Irish Lass (1) (The)." English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody is unique to London publisher Charles and Samuel Thompson's 1765 country dance collection. It is perhaps one of the melodies from dancer Richard Aldridge's stage production called "An Irish Lilt" (see note for "Irish Lilt (4)"). The melody was included in the 1770 music manuscript collection of Northumbrian musician William Vickers as "Irish Lass (1) (The)."
