IRISH WHIM [2], THE. English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. There were several tunes named the "Irish Whim," a generic title along the lines of "Irish Lilt" or "Irish Fancy." This particular melody is unique to London publishers Charles and Samuel Thompson's 1757 country dance collection.
