JOHNNY WILMOT'S FIDDLES. AKA - "Johnny Wilmot's Fiddle." Canadian, Reel. Canada, Cape Breton. E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune can be found in Elmer Briand's Collection and Alister MacGillivray's Cape Breton Fiddler. Paul Cranford (1994) relates that the tune was composed by Elmer Briand (1922-1992) for his friend and fellow-musician Johnny Wilmot (1916-1993), who had earlier composed "Elmer Briand's Favorite." Briand's composition reflects the first phrase of Wilmot's tune but alters the development.
