BLACKSMITH'S FANCY, THE (Rogha an Ghabha). AKA and see "The Donegal Reel." Irish, Reel. Ireland, County Donegal. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. This reel was recorded by Donegal fiddlers John Doherty (c. 1895-1980) and Frank Cassidy (d. 1961) playing duet for the Irish Folklore Commission. Caoimhin Mac Aoidh identifies the reel as coming from fiddler John James Connaghan, Mountcharles, County Donegal, a blacksmith by trade, hence the title.
