BOG OF ALLEN [1], THE. AKA - "Bogs of Allen." AKA and see "Along with the girls I'd like to be," "Bloody oul' hag is it tay you want?" "The Boys of Clones," "Brendan Begley's Jig," "The Butcher's Jig," "The Butcher's March [2]." Irish, Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was recorded for Victor in 1928 by County Leitrim fiddler Michael Cashin and County Mayo native Tom Doyle on flute (along with an unidentified piano player). Reg Hall (1995) opines the recording "has the rhythmic thrust of the best West of Ireland country-house-dance music."
