HAMSTEAD HEATH. AKA - "Hampstead Heath." English, Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The melody appears in all four editions of London publisher John Young's Second Volume of the Dancing Master [1] (1710-1728), and in all three editions of the Walshes' Second Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master (1719, 1735, 1749), and in Walsh & Randall's New Country Dancing Master, 2nd Book (1710). Curiously, the same melody appears again in the Walsh volumes as "Hampstead Manour." Playford gives a different melody as "Hampstead Heath" in his Apollo's Banquet of 1670.

Hampstead Heath [2] is an ancient park in London, located on some of the highest territory in the city.
