LADY CHARLOTTE CAMPBELL'S STRATHSPEY [1]. Scottish, Strathspey. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Surenne): AAB (Glen, Gow, Hunter): AABB' (Athole, Kerr). One of the 197 compositions claimed by Nathaniel Gow (1763-1831), and one which "shows Nathaniel at his best" (Emmerson, 1971). Collector John Glen (1895) agrees, listing it among those of Gow's "exceedingly good melodies." See note for "Annotation:Lady Charlotte Campbell's Reel (2)" for more on person of title.
