Back to Queen Mab

QUEEN MAB. AKA and see "Maid's Got Milk Down the Lane (The)." English, Reel. Scottish, Scots Measure. England, Northumberland. G Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (McGlashan): AABBCC (Vickers). Queen Mab was a pantomime by Charles Burney written about 1750, featuring dances composed by the Scots composer James Oswald. A manuscript by Captain George Bush (1753?-1797), a fiddler and an officer in the Continental Army, has another tune from the stage production, labelled “The Sette in Queen Mab” (Keller, Fiddle Tunes from the American Revolution, 1992). "Queen Mab" also appears in the 1788 music manuscript collection of Benjamin Gardner (Marblehead, Mass.).
