MAJOR [1], THE. AKA - "Magar." English, Scottish; Jig. England, Northumberland. G Mixolydian (Seattle/Vickers): G Major (Stokoe & Bruce): A Major (Kerr). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Kerr, Stokoe & Bruce): AABBCCDDEE (Vickers). Some distanced similarity to the Irish "Mooncoin Jig (The)." See "Major (3) (The)" for a more closely related variant to the Irish tune that predates Vickers entry.
