Back to Mamou Two-Step (1)
MAMOU TWO-STEP [1]. AKA - "Débris Two-Step." Cajun, Two-Step (4/4 time). USA, southwestern Louisiana. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). BBAABBBBBBAABBAA. This instrumental is named for the area around Mamou, Louisiana, as are "Big Mamou," "Grand Mamou," "Tit Galop Por Mamou," and "Tit Mamou." A waltz tune called "Mamou Two-Step" can be heard in Michael Cimino's 1980 movie Heaven's Gate, where it is played by a fiddler on roller skates (who then jumps on stage to be accompanied by a band on rollerskates), but it is a different tune than the faster instrumental (see "Mamou Two-Step (3)" for waltz version).
