GUARD HOUSE, THE. AKA and see "Soldier's Dance," "Marchioness (The)," "Hullichan Jig (The)," "Chelmsford Races." English, Scottish; Jig. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune dates to the latter 18th century, first appearing in a Skillern collection of 1776 (London). Robert Petrie printed it in his 1st collection of 1790, under the title "Marchioness (The)."
