Back to Miss Campbell of Saddell's (1)
MISS CAMPBELL OF SADDELL [1]. Scottish, Slow Air (4/4 time), “Pastoral” or Strathspey. D Major (Gatherer): B Flat Major (Hunter). Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Perthshire fiddler-composer Biography:Robert Mackintosh (c. 1745-1807), appearing in his A Third Book of Sixty-Eight New Reels and Strathspeys (1796). The village of Saddell, or Glensaddell, lies on the wild east coast of the Kintyre Peninsula, Argyllshire, which projects from the southwest mainland of Scotland. Saddell Castle, the ancestral home of one of the many branches of the Campbell clan, and Saddell House, dominate the coast.
