MATCHMAKER, THE. Irish, Air (3/4 time). G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "A matchmaker is one who negotiates marriages between young prople. Some persons--generally old women--knowing and discreet--adopted matchmaking as a sort of profession--and a very profitable business it generally was: goodies and presents galore" (Joyce).
