The tune appears under the "Chantreuse" title in Preston's (1804) and Wheatstone's (1801) publications, but as "Chant Russe" in dancing Master Thomas Wilson's Companion to the Ball Room (London, 1816), and in the American publications of Edward Riley (Riley's Flute Melodies, vol. 1, New York, 1814) and Thomas Balls (The Gentleman's Amusement, Book 2, Norfolk, 1815).
