Back to Dixon’s Reel
DIXON'S REEL. American, Reel (2/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The Dixon of the tune title is perhaps the same person of Elias Howe's "Dixon's Slide." Howe is known to have collected from fiddlers in the New England area, including Maine.
Source for notated version: the 1904 music manuscript collection of biography:Clinton W. Bisbee of New Sumner, Maine. Bisbee copied the tunes from an older, 1864 manuscript by Frank Richardson of Mt. Vernon, Maine (the town was later called Canton).
