BLACK HAIRED GIRL/LASS [1], THE (Cailín Na Grúaige Duibhe). See also "Dark Gate Girl (The)," "Dark Haired Lass (2) (The)." Irish, Air (2/4 time). G Major (O'Neill): E Flat Major (O'Sullivan/Bunting). Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (O'Neill): AABB (O'Sullivan/Bunting). O'Sullivan (1983) thinks that a song goes to this tune but found no words with this title in Bunting or elsewhere.

Source for notated version: according to the index of the Irish collector Edward Bunting's 1840 collection, the melody was obtained from another collector, George Petrie, in 1822.

Printed sources: O'Neill (Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies), 1903; No. 509, p. 89. O'Sullivan/Bunting, 1983; No. 31, p. 49.
