England, Northumberland. F Major. Standard tuning. AABBCCDD. Double [Ed. or 'Triple'] hornpipes are generally from Lancashire and Cheshire. "Barwick is an old spelling of Berwick (as in Berwick-On-Tweed). Time signature 6/8 (in William Vicker's original) but notes grouped in 3/4 throughout. This would appear to have been one of the most popular Double Hornpipes to judge by its many surviving versions; only the 'Dusty Miller' rivals it in this respect. Vicker's setting is the only one I have seen with four strains, others having two or three" (Seattle).
