KITTY COME OVER (Tar A Leir/Leit A Caitilin). AKA and see "Cow that Ate the Blanket (1) (The)," "Noonday Feast (The)," "Rakes of Clonmel." Irish, Double Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune is sometime set in the key of 'D' (see "Rakes of Clonmel"). See also the related "Castle Donovan (1)." John Carty recorded the tune as "The Cat that Ate the Candle" on his 1994 album of the same name, although that appears to be an idiosyncratic title for the this jig (there are unrelated tunes by that title).

Source for notated version: "McNamara" [O'Neill].

Printed sources: O'Neill (Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies), 1903; No. 778, p. 145. O'Neill (Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems), 1907; No. 55, p. 26.

Recorded sources: Green Linnet SIF3040, De Dannan - "Ballroom" (1987. Learned from a 1928 recording of Co. Mayo melodeon player Frank Murphy, who recorded it in New York.)
