Source Cecil Snow lived in Washington state for a time, and musicians there have also picked up his variant tune. As with most titles with the word "gray/grey", both spellings can be found.

Printed sources: Beisswenger & McCann (Ozarks Fiddle Music), 2008; p. 131.

Recorded sources: Cecil Snow - "The Country Boys, Sounds from the Ozarks" (c. 1989. Privately issued cassette).
