OLD HIGH REEL, THE. AKA and see "Beehive (The)," "Bangor Reel (A)," "Castle (3) (The)," "Galway High Reel (The)," "High Reel No. 2," "Other High Reel (The)." Irish, Reel. Standard tuning (fiddle). D Major. In older recorded versions the reel is called "The High Reel," but that name also belongs to a more popular reel. To avoid confusion the present reel is referred to as "Old High Reel" or "High Reel No. 2." The tune was called "The Castle" on the Boys of the Lough album "Regrouped" (1980).
