MISS MURRAY OF ELLIBANK'S FAVORITE. Scottish, Jig. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. William Shepherd also composed a tune for Miss Murray's mother, "Honorable Mrs. Murray of Ellibank’s Strathspey," probably Mary Clara Montolieu, the daughter of Lt.-Col. Lewis Charles Montolieu, Baron de St. Hypolite, who married Alexander Murray, 7th Lord Elibank, in 1776. The couple had three children, two of whom were female, Elizabeth and Mary.
