The melody appears in John Young's third volume of the long running Dancing Master series, 2nd edition (London, 1726). Young was heir to the Playford publishing concerns. A different tune with a similar name, "Kinsail", earlier appeared in Playford's Apollo's Banquet, Fifth Edition (1687) (see "Kinsail: A New Tune").
