Back to Happy Meeting (1) (The)


HAPPY MEETING [1], THE. English, Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody also appears in the John Fife music manuscript collection of c. 1780. Fife was a musician thought to have been from Perthshire, who also may have made entries at sea (there are references to battles in the Caribbean & the Mediterranean). Playford's "Happy Meeting (2) (The)" is a different tune.
