Breathnach (1996) identifies the "Custom House" as belonging to the "[[Jackson's Walk to Limerick]]" family of tunes (see note), which includes "[[Green Meadow (The)]]" and "[[Geese in the Bog (2) (The)]]." Gearóid Ó hAllmhuráin (1999) maintains the tune was composed by East Galway fiddler Paddy Kelly in the 1930's. Kelly was a member of the famous Aughrim Slopes Ceili Band.
