PAT AND AL’S JIG. Irish-American, Jig. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Chicago Irish-style fiddler Liz Carroll, but popularized among Cape Breton fiddlers by Jerry Holland (1955-2009). According to Paul Cranford, Holland heard Carroll play it at a festival they were both playing at, and later the tune popped into conscious thought. However, Holland miss-remembered hearing it from Carroll. The tune must have remained dormant in his subconsious, but when it emerged the Inverness fiddler believed it to be his own composition. In the original edition of the Cranford/Holland publication it was given the name "Ross Kennedy" and attributed to Holland. Later the mistake was realized and corrected.
