The tune was included in a section of Kerr's volume entitled Irish Jigs for Quadrilles and Country Dances. William Bradbury Ryan printed the tune as "Fagin's Holiday" in his Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883), but titles just the word "Fagan" predate this (i.e. Clinton, Levey & Haverty).
