HARD ROAD TO PASSAGE, THE. Irish, Jig. D Major/Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A modern tune by researcher, editor and uilleann piper Terry Moylan, commemorating an intended hitchhiking journey with Tom Munnelly from Ballymacaw to Passage East, Co. Waterford (about 10 miles). The were not in luck and ended up walking both there and back, with Moylan vowing that if he ever composed a tune he would call it "The Hard Road to Passage" (Donnelly, An Píobaire, p. 19).
