There is a Carrick in south west County Donegal, but there are also other places with the name (derived from the Irish Carraig, or 'rock') in Ireland. "Mysteries of Knock", also called "Pretty Young Girls of Carrick (The)" is a related tune. The first strain is shared with "Ladies of Carrick (2) (The)," but the second strains differ.
Source for notated version: "Miss Kennedy"--fiddler Ellen "Nellie" Kennedy (Chicago) whose brother, fiddler James Kennedy also contributed to O'Neill's collection. The siblings' father was a County Leitrim fiddler of local renown from whom she learned this tune [O'Neill]; Francie and Mickey Byrne (County Donegal) [Feldman & O'Doherty].
