The Borders musician John Pringle wrote a Strathspey entitled "[[James Boick]]" c.1801. The Edinburgh Parish register records that James Boick, musician, married Sally Tricey, on Aug. 18th, 1797. The Borders musician John Pringle wrote a Strathspey entitled "James Boick" c.1801. Much later, Hamilton's Universal Tune Book (Glasgow, 1844) contained "James Boick's Reel]," 'now printed for the first time'. Robert Petrie included two of Boick's tunes in his Fourth Collection of Strathspeys, Reels, Jiggs and Country Dances (c. 1805), "Miss Norton of Norton's Strathspey" and "Miss Stewart of Ederadeynat's Jigg."
