He was with Duprez and Green's and Later Duprez and Benedict's Minstrels, and died in Boston, Mass., July 11, 1879. Ryan also printed a nearly identical version, transposed to the key of 'G', in his Mammoth Collection (1883) under the title "Occidental Hornpipe," and it was included just a few years later in Laybourn's Köhler’s Violin Repository Book 3 (1885) as "Pirate's Hornpipe."
