DEMPLE, THE. English, Country Dance Tune (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody also appears in John Johnson's 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 8 (London, 1758). A nearly identical version was entered into the 1770 music manuscript collection of Northumbrian musician William Vickers as "The Dimple."
