Back to Frainc a'Phoill


FRAINC A'PHOILL (King of the Pipers). Irish, Jig. Ireland, Donegal. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. "Frain a'Phoill/King of the Pipers" refers to no less than five different tunes from Donegal (see "Gift from the Fairies,"). This 6/8 four-part tune was recorded from the playing of Donegal fiddler John Doherty in 1974 (release on Gael-Linn "The Celebrated Recordings" in 1977).
