POSSUM UP A SIMMON TREE [1]. AKA and see “Kitty Puss,” "Puncheon Camp(s)." Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, Ky. A Major/Mixolydian (Phillips]. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody is the same as Clyde Davenport's (Monticello, Ky.) "Puncheon Camp(s)."
On his field recording Thomas is hear reciting:
Possum up a simmon tree,
One eye shining down on me;
that possum in the eye.
