Composed by Abraham Mackintosh (b. 1769, son of 'Red Rob' MacKintosh) but appearing in John Watlen's 1798 2nd collection, inscribed: "The Celebrated Circus Tunes performed at Edinburgh this Season..." It apparently first went by the title (and is still sometimes called) "The Fox," with the "Brandling" title first appearing in the 1884 Athole Collection.
