SHEPHERD BOY’S MARCH [2], THE. Scottish, Pipe March (6/8 time). A Minor (Miller): B Minor (Ross). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This pipe march, attributed to Angus McSwayde, appears in the William Ross pipe collection and in David Glen’s bagpipe tutor. McSwayde (or McSwayed, as it appears on his memorial stone) was born in Kilmuir, Inverness-shire, lived from 1800-1867 and was a Pipe Major with the 78th Highlanders from 1822-1845, "and latterly of the H.R.M. Dingwall" (H.R.M. = Highland Rifle Militia). He became a freemason in 1847 and was a member of the Celtic Lodge Edinburgh and Leith.
