UPPERCHURCH POLKA [1], THE. AKA and see “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Once I caught a fish alive.” Irish, Polka. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA’BB’. Upperchurch is a small village in North Tipperary, Ireland, that lies in the Slievefelin Hills, between Thurles and Limerick. Source Billy Clifford (originally from Kerry) lived in Upperchurch.

Source for notated version: Breathnach copied the tune from a ms. either compiled by or in the possession of David Collins, Abbeyfeale, County Limerick (passed on to Breathnach by fiddler Tom Barrett, Listowel, County Kerry, who is credited as a source for tunes in CRÉ 4).
