ARABY'S DAUGHTER. Irish, Air (6/8 time, "with spirit"). D Major. Standard tuning. AB. "Araby's Daughter," from Lalla Rookh, was composed by George Killamark (1781-1835) with words by Thomas Moore (1779-1852), who wrote his romantic poem in 1817. The tune was used for the 1817 American song "The Old Oaken Bucket" (words by Samuel Woodworth, 1785–1842). "Araby's Daughter" was printed c. 1824 in Philadelphia in G.E. Blake's Gentleman's Amusement and in Glazier, Masters & Co.'s Complete Preceptor for the Clarionet (c. 1828).
