Back to Donald Dow
DONALD DOW. AKA and see "Daniel Dow's Strathspey," "Lady Charlotte Murray (3)." Scottish, Strathspey. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. An excellent composition by fiddler-composer Daniel Dow (d. 1783) who hailed from Kirkmichael, Perthsire. Daniel has also been called 'Donald' Dow, and the correct name is undetermined (c.f. John Glen's "Biographical Sketches of Early Scottish Musicians and Musicsellers", 1891). The tune was originally named "Lady Charlot Murray's Reel."
